O gentle St. Teresa of Ávila,
you who bore your own sufferings with patience and love,

What does Charlie Kirk have to do with this day’s reading? I myself come here for time in Gods word. Politics seem like a distraction from that.

Unfortunately, I’ve always kind of tied money to my value and worth. Growing up, we were middle class and had everything we needed, but my dad always felt like it wasn’t enough compared to his brothers who were ridiculously wealthy. My dad was (is) such a loving, amazing, hard working father but Money really stressed him out. I think watching that shaped me.

As a child, I felt less-than because my friends went to private school and I couldn’t. I resented money and felt like it decided who was “better.”

Now, I’m thankful I see things differently. God has blessed me in soooo many ways and I see his finger prints everywhere today and then. I’m wiser and I know money is not some magical answer, at all. But I’ll admit, those old thinking patterns come up.

I find myself being generous, but not necessarily for the right reasons. I don’t want to look stingy, I want to prove my value… And then I have to stop and ask—am I giving for the right reasons, or is it about me and serving my pride?

Money still stirs up a lot of complicated feelings, but I’m learning to trust God more with it, and invite Him into all my money decisions.

My relationship with money is a very poor one. I was never taught when I was young how to manage my money and so as I became an adult, it didn’t get better. Now I’m in a situation where I need to fix things before I no longer can work. My prayers with God are to help me and my husband with our finances to give us guidance.
