I’m really not a full time caregiver anymore, Praise God! My son’s transition is going well. He has a new part-time caregiver to come in the home and take him to activities in the community, and he still needs one more to fill all of the hours allocated to him. He sometimes forgets things that seem obvious to me, like he REALLY needs to drink coffee every morning to function (because so many of his medications make him sleepy), and he needs to tell his caregiver—not me—when he is out of his favorite foods or snacks. But overall, it’s going well. The next phase of adjustment for me will be when my daughter returns to college in a couple of weeks and I am living completely alone for only the second time in my life, but the first time in 35+ years. Prayers for that adjustment are appreciated. Also, my friend Judy is having a full hysterectomy on the 15th of this month, and a week later, she will find out if there is cancer to battle also.

It may not cost us our lives, but it may cost us our comfort or our desires or money. I think too often I strive to feel comfortable and when I’m uncomfortable, I don’t want to do it. Just this past weekend we had house gas at the same time that we celebrated my daughter sixth birthday. It was a lot to navigate and there were definitely times that I felt a little squished and uncomfortable. But what made it all worth it was hearing how one of our houseguests just felt so the last time here. She said that she felt so lonely at home and it was so nice to be with family. When did I forget the to serve Christ? I need to feel uncomfortable sometimes and it’s OK.

That pain can be very deep, coming from loving truth, yet seeing betrayal, rejection, even spiritual violence from within prevails. The grief for the one being stoned, and the grief for the ones doing the stoning. This is why hatred masked as religious zeal is dangerous in church, the type of zeal without relationship with God. “God I thank you that I am not like other men…” (Luke 18:11) (the Pharisee). Religious hatred often believes it is doing God a favor, this self deception makes repentance difficult, because the person believes they’re already on the right side. May we pray for the lost pharisees. When we hear about church hurt, church split, what can we say to this? God said He will separate the Sheep and the Goats (Matthew 35:31-46). Division is God’s idea when based on truth and righteousness. Division is not always bad, it can be holy. Not all unity is good, sometimes peace is a disguise for compromise. Even Jesus did not come to unify at all costs, He said, “Do not think that I came to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.” I sit and think. The Gospel is always very costly, more than we know. It costs God everything. It can cost the believers everything too. Truth always provokes one of two reactions: repentance or rage. Sharing the gospel can cost us friendships, relationships, reputation, opportunities, even safety (in some parts of the world). But the greater cost is silence! “How will they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without someone preaching?” Romans 10:14. Paul said, “Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!” (1 Corinthians 9:16). Stephen didn’t back down, because truth matters more than comfort, and souls matter more than silence. May God give us wisdom to speak, the strength to go through the stoning and the painful separation. May God give us strength to go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere that Jesus is Lord and Savior. Hugs to SEARCHING (often times I am also a teary mess). Be blessed dear sisters.

But I now know that it is the little seeds that we plant. It is not my job to bring others to Christ. That is His job. I need to be faithful and walk the walk to be an example.
