Although Hagar was a faithful servant and mother, although she was a faithful servant of the Lord, her life on this Earth was still filled with tragedy, sorrow and challenges. It was secular and she was not perfect. The true freedom and glory will be seen in Heaven with our Lord and Savior. The ultimate testament that this life is meant to be our worst life as long as we have faith in God.

In my darkest days, I can remember that God saw Hagar, heard her prayer, and was with her in her despair. While she may have been a simple means to an end for Abraham and Sarah, she was so much more than that to God. He never wastes our pain. He sees me, He hears my cries. I can rest in the promise that He will work all of it together for good.
