Rehab lived in sin as a prostitute and her life did not meet the standard set by the Mosaic Law. My life is also soaked by sin, I do not meet the standard set by Jesus Christ. Yet Rahab was able to act with a kind heart and pure intention. This is a good reminder that every day starts new and my actions and intentions can still be good even after falling into sin.

Rahab’s choice to do good by the men in this circumstance allowed her life to be spared as well as her family. From the secular world today, many would shame her for her sin and deny her worth/ connection to family. How can I repent of my sin and honor my family after failing to represent them/Christ in the past?

I love the details mentioned by another commenter in Rahab’s story and how they were no accident, but God woven through every single detail. Around the world today as it has been for generations, pockets of cities tend to have “red light districts”. They carry a very negative connotation for the sinful behavior that occurs there. God used Rahab, the prostitute for His good and His glory—such an unlikely choice, but I love that God saw her, and used her. It gives so much hope to others bound in a lifestyle that they don’t want to be in, but need to make a living for their children and themselves in order to survive. We used to attend a church in SE Georgia, that had an amazing outreach ministry to women in the sex trade. We would love on these women week after week, taking meals, building relationships, learning about their families, sharing the Gospel with them, and so much more. My hope is that the “red light districts” around the globe can be transformed into a beacon of hope and light that no longer is associated with sin, but of the Salvation of Jesus, redemption, and restoration available through Him. Oh how amazing that would be! What man meant for evil, God meant for good! Let’s band together as the people of God, like Rahab, take a courageous stand, and allow God to use us mightily in order to advance His Kingdom and bring more and more people to Himself.
