Dear Father, please wrap your loving arms around this young family and remind them that they are not alone. Send them fellow believers to walk this journey with them that they may be reminded of your steadfast love and of your ultimate healing regardless of the immediate outcome. Provide for their needs, strengthen their faith, and comfort them in the days to come. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

This was the first thing that caught my attention. I have been almost sick with worry lately about all of the awful changes going on in American society, and they are truly awful. But I must balance my responsibilities as a citizen of this nation with the reminder that this world is not my home, and I am called to serve my Heavenly Father no matter what that looks like. I cannot know what the cost will be, but I do know where my allegiance must lie. And I must keep my focus eternal while I go about my daily duties. One day at a time, not knowing what that may look like. And it will be both easier and harder than it sounds, I expect.

I find this verse so very appropriate for especially mothers of faith. We often are not the ones out getting drunk or carousing, but we do spend an enormous amount of time worrying over our families. Sometimes that can feel like the righteous thing to do. We are being “responsible” while others are giving into pleasure.

But God calls us to put our focus on Him alone, just like He did with Martha. Even as mothers worrying over our families, we could miss the signs of God.

May we have eyes to see and ears to hear what He would have us pay attention to!

Totally makes sense, Jennifer! You’re not alone in those thoughts or feelings. I would encourage you to consider who Jesus is to you and all that He is versus what the earth contains or holds or what *could* happen.. and I say all this in a shepherding/rhetorical manner:) What does life with Jesus mean to you right now? Eternity is everlasting life with Jesus (as my lead pastor put it today), so it’s a continuation of “now” without the effects of sin. Without any separation from Him. The unknowns can certainly be scary, and I too can wonder and be afraid. Even then- His presence is more than all of that. Just like Romans 8 talks about. I’d encourage you to dig into what the fear is, and compare that to the truth of who Jesus is. It’s just like the enemy to try to use fear against one of the most beautiful things ever: complete and whole relationship with God— eternity.

Praying that as you lean into truth, you’ll have more peace of Him even in the uncertainty because He conquers all!

I hope this was helpful. Being a pastor myself, I wanted to respond just a bit to your comment :)
