The title of the devotional is: “Jesus Brings Life.” Jesus also brings light (well Jesus is the light). The verse that stood out to me today from our reading is John 3:19-31. It talks about how people love darkness because it hides evil deeds. Light on the other hand exposes us. It reminds me of the way that Adam & Evil after committing sin in the garden of Eden, hid themselves and made clothing to cover their nakedness because they didn’t want to be exposed. Being exposed is scary. It’s natural to want to control the narrative and filter out what people see.

And yet we are called to allow ourselves to step into the light and be exposed by a God who loves us and wants to make us more like him. I pray that I would embrace the vulnerability that comes with having an open posture before God. God already knows my flaws/short comings anyway. I can take comfort in the truth that my standing before God does not depend on my goodness but on Jesus’ goodness.

So sorry once again for the loss of your brothers. Experiencing grief in the midst of significant physical suffering would just be so difficult. May the Lord continue to bring you comfort and healing to your heart and body as recover. Being outdoors, having the sunshine is so good and healing for heart, mind and body ❤️
