Today’s reading both scripture and devotional hit me hard. I lost everything I owed in Hurricane Ida. It brought back the memories of seeing my once home and all contents completely destroyed. ( My house was literally in my across the street neighbor’s yard). I was devastated and destroyed so much mentally that it created problems I am still dealing with physically. After living in a camper for 3 years and road block after road block of having a home again. I one day told myself I am giving it all to God. It has been a long journey of recovery, restoration of faith and trusting that God will deliver to get me where I am today, a place to call home and faith and gratitude I have never felt before. Thank you Jesus

Even in what is broken, can we find God’s guiding force

So challenging to read Nehemiah’s reaction and prayer. It highlights his priorities, and spurs Him to look to God as the only one who can restore, rather than focussing on the damage done. He is so quick to stand with those in exile and intercede for them for God to remember them. So quick to recognise the need to out God’s laws and covenant back in the priority place.
There is humility and such a right perspective in this.
I was challenged to be praying like this when I hear of churches being destroyed all over the world, and of persecuted Christians.
And I was challenged to put my own house in order as far as my focus and priorities. A really great motivator as I start the final term of the year here in Australia.
