{"id":71997,"date":"2025-01-24T00:01:00","date_gmt":"2025-01-24T05:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shereadstruth.com\/?p=71997"},"modified":"2025-01-15T17:35:41","modified_gmt":"2025-01-15T22:35:41","slug":"jacobs-departure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shereadstruth.com\/jacobs-departure\/","title":{"rendered":"Jacob\u2019s Departure"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Scripture Reading: Genesis 27:1-46, Genesis 28:1-22, Psalm 121:5-8<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of our journeys have been affected by dishonest choices whether we were wronged or did the wrongdoing. I have stories of my own when I tried to achieve something that wasn\u2019t meant for me. Like when I was in college, I took a ministry job I wasn\u2019t ready for. When the acceptance came for the position, I was less excited and more anxious than ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had so much self-doubt (\u201cI am way too young to be in this role. Everyone probably thinks I can\u2019t do it.\u201d), fear (\u201cWhat if I make huge mistakes and embarrass myself?\u201d), and loneliness (\u201cMy friends don\u2019t understand what I\u2019m feeling, and I feel very alone.\u201d).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I felt like a fraud who somehow tricked the directors into hiring me. Now with much perspective, none of those lies were true. But my feelings of unpreparedness were legitimate. When I think of Jacob\u2019s story, I wonder if he felt coerced into a role he wasn\u2019t fully ready to take on. I bet he wrestled with self-doubt and fear after deceiving his father and taking the blessing from his brother. He eventually ran from the consequences of his actions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet God found Jacob on the run and still gave him a blessing he didn\u2019t deserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>\u201cLook, I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go. I will bring you back to this land, for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.\u201d<\/em><br><em>\u2014Genesis 28:15&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>God&#8217;s presence also was my personal blessing during that difficult ministry season\u2014He was with me through every mini-breakdown. It wasn\u2019t the experience I hoped for, but God still rewarded the experience with His nearness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will continue to find ourselves forcing our own paths outside of God\u2019s plan for us. We make the ultimate act of deception when we decide we can live our lives without God\u2019s help and authority. Still, God\u2019s promise to restore His relationship with us through Jesus\u2019s death and resurrection is an undeserving reward God gives freely. He finds us running from Him and brings us back to his comfort and care.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ultimately, God knew Jacob would struggle and not make an honest choice, but it didn\u2019t put Jacob outside of God\u2019s good story for him. Jacob may have still struggled but He struggled with God alongside Him, protecting His path. Jacob saw a grace in all the bad choices he made with God watching over him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s nothing you can do to separate you from God\u2019s love. So even in your worst moments, God is still there.
